Why are people so interested in vampire related games?
I have seen this in Facebook, games, movies ,books etc. Theres a whole trend way back to the 50s about vampire related stories. What makes a vampire so attractive?or unattractive? |

It seems vampires are more popular these last few months.
I have my own theory why they're popular nowadays. I think it has to do with the dark side, people throughout the ages were always fascinated with dark, evil, sometimes even macabre. I think a vampire symbolizes that dark part of human nature. Dark and mystery, given flesh. A new trend in modern society is that taboos are no longer taboos, people are way more open to strange ideas and to the dark and mysterious. I think it's because of this, that vampires are more popular nowadays. Humans are fascinated with everything mysterious and dark. |

Hmmm, Personally, I think its because Vampires are supposed to be extremely actractive creatures... They lure their prey by their looks, smell, and just the fact that they are so mysterious is intensly actractive..Also, it could have something to do with the fact that Vampires tend to bite their prey on the neck... A bite on the neck can be a very sexual touch, and again.... very actractive... A lot of Vampire stories are also romance stories.... Take Twilight for example... its about Vampires, and its a love story.... There are others like this that dont' come to mind at the moment, but that is my opinion on why there is such a craze about Vampires.

I think their attraction comes from the dark side..aren`t we all supposed to be attracted by the dark side ..a little?Thats why redemption comes into scene.

Yes, everyone must withstand the darkness in them. The darkside is not some external thing - nobody can make you bad, only your own choices. (Thinking of Hitler etc...) They all made choices, as do we.
As for Vampires... well I do enjoy Underworld series as an action movie. Apart from that they are a creature made up by man... possibly to show how attractive and deceiving the darkside can be. It can lure you in and then bang! You are caught by the darkside.

Of course, these are all fictional vampires. But there are also otherkin vampires. I'm afraid I've never talked to one, so I don't know about their point of view.

Perhaps the fascination stems from the age of technology that the world has come into? Weapons have become very efficient at their purpose, and perhaps people feel more secure because of that fact. Mankind has progressed past the simple wooden stake, and that fact might make it possible for people to see past "horror", and think "fantasy" when people think of vampires.
My second idea is that they can provide a easy sort of anti-hero. A vampire's physical qualities, great strength, speed, ecetera, make for qualities that a hero needs to triumph over outside conflicts, but even a good vampire is still a conflicted character, because of their nature, i.e. need for blood. This sort of situation provides material to make wonderful plots, and I know that a good plot is the main reason I books.

I think they show this well in the Underworld series where Selene tells Michael that he doen't want the effects of going into a feeding ramapage on humans to be on his conscionce so she gives him plasma blood to drink. (Which he doesn't)
Its an interesting thing that many stories tell of 'good vampires' who don't kill humans and bad ones.

Well, as a fan of old Horror movies, i'll have to say that these guys have always interested me.
Bram Stoker is the spiritual father of every Vampire, and thrills people even to this day. The very first movie adaptation to his book was Nosferatu from 1922, it wasn't called Dracula because it didn't follow the book well enough. Still in the silent era, it scared people by it's suprisingly slow story with nice buildup and excellent musical soundtrack, which didn't rely on sudden loud sounds to scare the audience. Instead, it always stayed at the same, scary rhythm. But the real start of the Vampire ... cult, if you will. Of course started with Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi as the Count himself. Following the book well, added with a wonderful actor and legendary camerawork, people became scared of Vampires, since nothing similair (except Nosferatu) was ever seen. So of course, with fright, comes interest. And people want to know more about them. Even to this day, as the Vampire legends still creep people's minds. But other tend to enjoy the lifestyle. Living forever, drinking blood, only be awake during the night. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Since the very beginning, Vampires have been seen as gentlemen who are sly, with crude intentions. So of course, in the modern day, they're naturally going to look good. Another reason why people like them so much, mysterious and handsome. So yeah, in modern day equivalents, like Underworld, Bloodrayne or Blade, Vampires prove to be able to play the good guys aswel. Why? Honestly, who doesn't like a handsome, badass anti-hero? So that's from the perspective of a moviegoer. Hope i didn't bore you. ^^'
