As you may know, the dragon forum I admed is not longer active.
Before that,I noticed some other dragon forums were just repeating themselves both in members and topics. Do you think dragon forums are just dissapearing? Do you believe rpiers are just slowly distorting dragon communities or are a part of it? |

Its not just dragon forums that are dieing out. Its all otherkin forums that are becoming extinct. Some of the blame goes toward RPG players but thier not the ones at fault. Its mainly society that are making otherkin deny who they are. More and more are chalking it up in thier head that they were just pretending and are not really dragons or otherkin, while deep down there's still a spark of truth of who they really are. The forums might come back alive again but they won't be the same because they'll be over run with Roleplayers and few who are actual dragons.
That's what I think, I'm really glad this forum and those out there are making an effort to stay alive. |

I think Ice is right, when those sad little people that do not accept someone who's different that them are killing the true nature of many dragons/otherkins out there. But what you think about posers? I do not participate in any other dragonkin/otherkin forums so I cannot say it, but maybe the other forums had posers who tired to fake their sad existance only to feel special and they finnally found out that the only thing that they get are insults and quit otherkin forums, don't you think? I dunno, this is the only otherkin forum like I said above but I read about these guys.

i agree society is the ___ hole of this world that tares people that are different apart just because they're different. me i am glad to be who i am. i look at society and say "SCREW YOU SOCIETY I'LL BE MY SELF AND I DON"T CARE WHAT YOU SAY I'D RATHER DIE THAN TO CHANGE WHO I AM." me my true form is a white dragon my guardian is a silver blue dragon and truth be told i really hate society you can tell. i won't change who i am inside or outside it is what makes me who i am. keep your true identity people changing cause society wants you to sometimes is not cool trust me my grandparents want me to change and i am not going to change for the sake of society.
i'm alive w/ lyrics by disturbed. listen to the music (OOC: tell me if i should fix this post)

I dun really think society is the problem really:remeber we all live and form a society so most of its prejudices come directly from us.
I agree when many say there s no tolerance for diversity but I understand that for some people the idea of Otherkinism seems completely outreageous. |

Well, if I weren't otherkin, as an agnostic I probably accept the ideal of otherkinism but many people are religious and the religion probably stands against this idea... I mean, christianism says that when you die you go to heaven or hell and your not coming back as other form of living being right? I think religion plays a big role against the acceptance of otherkinism aswell as the people that are called "haters", these can be a pain in the...

Remember some of the attitudes of 'Otherkin' are just as bad as anyone elses.
I think so many forums poped up and then the members of one were members of others - making it one big fluid community. This makes the forums lose their distinctive touch. What I have found hard is finding a forum that is more 'factual' than otherkin beliefs as I don't believe in otherkinness (Thats putting it nicely) Admittadly many of my friends are otherkin and I have no problems with them. I think what has happened is that many teens a few years ago joined these forums. Now they are growing up and realising there is more to life than thinking you are a dragon - afterall whether or not you are, you are still in human form, and you have to survive in a human dominant world. Teens now my age have probably realised they have to make their own destiny.

Many teens are growing yes and they realise they have to pay bills, work and mingle in a human society ,and their belief is not longer sustainable.
Ive noticed the only forums which really survive are those which include "humn" topics as well. |

Alas, I cannot say much in terms of what is or isn't the problem. I can, however, address some of the possible factors you all mentioned in reference to the general topic at hand (which, given that this is the only dragon forum I know of and go to, my answer to that question is "no").
Religion: While many have beliefs and it's best to let one think and believe what they desire, I say that perhaps some religions are intruding upon others, bent on destroying them based upon a difference of views. If anyone is Catholic or Cristian, I'm sorry to say this, but religions like those two are intruding and bent on dismantling other religions because, as Drakkul stated, there is only two places that you go to when you die, and no other possible reasons exist. History proves this: Jerusilam back in the Crusades. Christianism was bent on driving the people who lived in "The Holy Lands" for one major reason - difference of religion. Society: It's like religion, but less forgiving and understanding. People who make up a society tend to prefer to be run by close-minded people intent on doing what they want to do - they run the show, and they alone. For those of us who live in the United States, this next comment may or may not cause a nodding of heads: our government is going downhill. In the Declaration of Independence, we are called a "republic", meaning the power is with the people. I know of maybe 3 or 4 presidents that tried to uphold that word to it's meaning, even though they were made to run a democracy. And the reason the US' forefathers left England in the first place was to set up a government ruled BY THE PEOPLE - a republic - and not by the government - a democracy. If the societies of the world were based around a republic-based idealism, then everyone would accept each other, regardless of differences in beliefs or other personal factors that differ from entity to entity. If some of you don't fully understand, it's okay - PM me and I'll explain. And to wrap up my response to this topic for the time, I have to agree with Razor: the world is driven largely by humans, who think everything else is inferior to them. Luckily, this is never always the case, as this kind of problem persists with all entities that can display more coherant brain functions than Naru tends to do 75% of the time. Or a rock. Naru's more likely to prove me wrong, so if he can't be used as an example, use a rock. Which may or may not be more intelligent than Naru. It's a strange world we live in, and it tends to get stranger by the day...or maybe we just discover more things in it that are strange to us?.... THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW. *starts munching on a Tootsie Roll sucker*

Interesting Ruby - however lets not just pick on Christianity. Islam, for the true believer means either converting or killing all others. In fact every religion in the world virtually says: Do it my way or take the highway... in this case usually leading to a somewhat undesirable location.
It is sad to say that many people use religion - such as the crusaders back in AD 1200 or so, as an excuse to start a bloody rampage on those they don't like. Another thing, and a lot of people don't realise this, but everyone has a religion of somesort - if you don't believe in religion then that is your religion. Ironic huh? ( I think we hijacked this topic incidentally - it's not supposed to be about religion... although religion does come into it. Hmm)
